STUNNING LOCATION |
This area boasts some of the most breathtaking scenery that you
will find in Spain so much so that it is often referred to as the
hidden Andalucía or the tropical Switzerland. On a clear day it
is possible to see as far as Africa. The site is located in the
heart of the La Alpujarra region of Granada, at a height of 1,300m,
on the southern slopes of Sierra Nevada, beneath the permanently
snow-capped peak of Mulhacén (the highest peak in the Iberian
Peninsula).
Pitres
is the administrative centre and the only village in "La
Taha de Pitres" (the province or area of Pitres) to have
its own town hall or town council and which acts as administrator
to the rest of the villages within this area, i.e La Taha.

LOCAL HOTEL |
As Pitres is the biggest village in this area with shops and
other facilities it has become the traditional meeting point
for the inhabitants of the surrounding villages. On Friday
mornings when the open-air market comes to town, people come
from all over to shop, havea drink, something to eat and
to chat with friends in the bars situated in the main square.
There are two hotels in the village as well as hostels, restaurants,
a book shop, hairdressers and just about anything you would
need to make life comfortable. The views from the village
are spectacular and tourists from all over come to spend a
few days to relax, walk and enjoy the clean fresh air and
pure mountain water.
The
village boasts a well-attended medical centre with a helicopter landing pad for emergencies. Hospitals in Motril and Granada
are easily accessible.
