Motril
Motril
is the largest town along the coast of the Province of Granada,
known as "Costa Tropical" The town is beautifully positioned
in the centre of this coastline on the Mediterranean sea with the
Sierra Nevada to the north and enjoys a sub tropical climate throughout
the year The town of Motril is located just off the main coast road
between Almeria and Malaga where the N325 turns inland for Granada.
The town has more than 56.000 inhabitants and is well developed
commercially with an excellent shopping centre and a large modern
hospital
Motril is best known for its busy commercial port. There is also
a fishing port and a yachting Marina. There are ferries from here
to Morocco.
The subtropical climate of the coast and its calm, warm waters make
it an ideal place for all kinds of water sports. Diving enthusiasts
can enjoy one of the most beautiful sea beds along the Andalucian
coastline.
Visitors will enjoy its sunny beaches, exquisite tropical products
and the heritage of its long history, in the shape of churches,
hermitages, civil buildings and the Museum of Sugar, devoted to
the sugar cane, which was the main industry of the city for centuries.
The fish harbour is one of the most attractive places in town.
